Before you book anything
This is general guidance only — always confirm the current rules with your vet and the destination country before you travel, as requirements change.
Book your Animal Health Certificate appointment for the 10 days before travel with a vet who is an Official Veterinarian (OV) — not every practice can issue one.
Sort the microchip and rabies vaccination early: you must wait at least 21 full days after the first rabies jab before you can travel.
A new Animal Health Certificate is needed for every single trip to the EU — it is not reusable like the old pet passport.
