How the United Miles Calculator Works

United MileagePlus is a Star Alliance frequent flyer program with revenue-based earning (April 2026+). General members earn 5 miles/$1 with a United card (3x without); Premier Silver 7x, Gold 8x, Platinum 9x, 1K 11x. Miles are worth 1.2-1.5 cpp on average, with 2-3+ cpp achievable on saver Polaris business class awards.

Best Ways to Use United Miles

Top redemptions: Polaris business class at saver pricing, Star Alliance partner awards (ANA, Lufthansa, Singapore), the Excursionist Perk (free intra-region flight on multi-city bookings), and domestic saver awards from 7,500 miles one-way.

Recent Updates & Premier Status

United card holders get 10-15% off award bookings. Family accounts share earning rates with up to 8 children under 18. As of Feb 1, 2026, PlusPoints/CPUs work on award tickets. Premier status is earned via PQP (1 per $1 on UA flights), with Silver (6K), Gold (12K), Platinum (18K), and 1K (28K) tiers offering Economy Plus, upgrades, PlusPoints, and Global Premier Upgrades.
